Synthetic Oil Changes

It seems like everyone has their own opinion when it comes to oil changes.  But when is it really the right time to get an oil change?  This is important information that you need to know in order to best take care of your beautiful European vehicle.  First, you need to know if your car takes conventional or synthetic oil.  If you have a newer car, it is likely that it takes synthetic oil, and there have definitely been some miscommunications about synthetic oil.  You may have heard people say, "You can go as long as 15,000 miles without getting your oil changed!"  That is true.  You can go 15,000 miles without getting your oil changed if you want your engine to look like this beauty to the right.  This is an example of a new vehicle that went 15,000 miles without a synthetic oil change.  While synthetic oil does allow you to go longer without getting an oil change, it is still recommended that you get your oil changed before the date set by whoever serviced your vehicle.  Your filter has to be changed more often.  If you wait until the date set by your servicer to change the filter, there is a strong chance your oil filter could crystallize or deteriorate and cause oil sludge build-up.  This is not good for your vehicle!  The recommendation is to get your oil changed between 7,000 and 10,000 miles.  Keep your vehicle clean and in good shape.
